Confirmed: It's Real Madrid vs Juventus in the UCL final after Madrid 4-2 aggregate win over rival Atletico

The man in black – Diego Simeone – was outdone by 11 men in black as Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid to reach the Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo's first-leg hat-trick had left Atletico Madrid with too much to do, for a while it seemed they would manage it but an Isco goal woke them from their dream on an emotional final European night at the Vicente Calderon.

Madrid came into the game on a run of 60 games scoring and were just two short of their 400th Champions League goal. Atletico Madrid don't have the same numbers – it was statistics against sentiment and sentiment went 2-0 up in just 16 minutes.


On 12 minutes Navas was beaten as Saul powered a header past him from Koke's corner for Atletico's first goal. Now the home side only needed two goals to draw level.

Four minutes later they needed just one. Torres was brought down by Raphael Varane and Griezmann slammed in the penalty despite Navas getting a hand to it. The Frenchman had slipped as he took the kick but not so much that he didn't convert. The miracle was on.



Atletico had to keep their heads and their lead going into the break but they were thwarted on 42 minutes. Karim Benzema got away from three Atletico defenders and crossed for Toni Kroos. His long shot was parried by Jan Oblak and when the ball ran to Isco he found the far corner.

Simeone put Kevin Gameiro and Thomas Partey on 10 minutes into the second half with the game slipping from their grasp. Isco and Ronaldo had had the better chances in the second period for all that the home supporters bounced up and down and boomed out the club's anthems.

Abramovich move to settle rift between Conte and David Luiz

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is investigating whether there is a growing problem between manager Antonio Conte and the players. The Russian billionaire is increasing his involvement in the day-to-day running of the club following the resignation of technical director Michael Emenalo on Monday. Antonio Conte has brushed aside talk of a return to Italy after he led his Chelsea side to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. Ramos scores brace, Madrid beats Napoli 3-1

Real Madrid came from behind to secure a 3-1 away win against Napoli as the European Champions are through to the quarter finals with a 6-2 aggregate score. Manchester United will trigger contract extension clauses on four first team stars that will stop them from holding talks with other clubs in January. According to reports, the Red Devils are ready to extend the deals of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Daley Blind. All are out of contract at the end of the current season but Manchester United have the option to extend their deals by a further 12 months, tying them at the club until summer 2019.
