Xabi Alonso beautiful football career comes to an end

Xabi Alonso played his last game in Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over Freiburg, a game in which he provided an assist to Roben for Bayern's first goal.

Xabi Alonso got a standing ovation from Bayern Munich's fans when he was replaced by Frank Ribery in 82 minutes of the game.

What a legend he is, and will be missed by football lovers for his ability to deliver long  range passes accurately.

Alonso played an amazing 815 games with 17 trophies including one world cup and two Euro with Spain.

Miroslav Klose to be special guest at world cup draw

His name is synonymous with the World Cup so it is only fitting that former Germany striker Miroslav Klose will bring out the trophy as the draw is made for Russia 2018. Now retired, the upcoming tournament will be the first that the former Lazio man has missed since 2002, with his record of 16 World Cup goals intact. "For very obvious reasons, the World Cup holds very special memories for me," Klose told FIFA.com. "I feel very honoured to somehow still be a part of the World Cup, even after my retirement, and particularly to present to Russia and to the world this trophy that we fought so hard to win in Brazil in 2014." Diego Maradona believes Lionel Messi should have been banned for longer after allegedly insulting a linesman, as he referred to the Barcelona star as a 'teddy bear'. Messi was initially handed a four-game suspension after the incident in a World Cup qualifier against Chile, but after sitting out just one match he has already been cleared to play again. Maradona believes Argentina's star man has received preferential treatment, although he admits it is good for the team that he can feature again. He told Radio La Red: 'It makes absolutely no sense, but Leo deserved [to be sanctioned] for one more match and I say that with my heart in my hand. 'They reduced the ban for the same reason they always do with star players and veteran players. 'Messi is not the type of player to insult anyone. Video Assistant Referee(VAR) to be used in Spain

According to Marca, The Spanish FA have been given the green light to begin using VAR - Video Assistant Referee - and the technology could make its debut in the second leg of Atletico Madrid and Elche's Copa del Rey tie at the end of November. VAR is already in use in some European leagues, but there has been a mixed reaction to it, particularly in Germany   and Italy. As such, any initial use of it in Spain will be for testing and it will not be rolled out across the country straight away. Ten-man Real Madrid rescued a 3-3 draw at home to Las Palmas on Wednesday thanks to a late double from Cristiano Ronaldo. Goals from Tana, Jonathan Viera and Kevin-Prince Boateng overturned an early opener from Isco and looked set to give the visitors a shock three points, especially after Gareth Bale's red card early in the second half. Chelsea have won the Premier League title after defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at the Hawthorns. A late goal from substitute Michy Batshuayi gave the Blues three points, which mean they hold an unassailable 10-point advantage over Tottenham.                Ancelotti knows Ronaldo       very well and had given his opinion    on who is a  better partner to him up front. Former Real Madrid manager and current Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has analysed Real Madrid and Juventus ahead of the Champions League final in a candid interview with Corriere della Sera. One of his major comments explained why Alvaro Morata was getting such little game time – “Morata plays so little under Zidane because Benzema is the best striker to play with Cristiano." Gambo Mohammed joins Nigerian league champions Plateau United from Kano Pillars

Nigeria Professional Football League champions Plateau United have signed forward Gambo Mohammed on a two-year deal from Kano Pillars. Gambo, who is Kano Pillars all-time leading scorer, was rumoured to be on his way to Rivers United but has now joined the Jos club. The move ended his over a decade romance with Kano Pillars where he was a cult hero among the supporters. The 29-year old joined Kano Pillars from amateur outfit Buffalo FC in 2006 and won three NPFL titles with the club. He is the latest arrival at Plateau United following the acquisition of King Osanga, Charles Henlong, Amos Gyang and Tosin Omoyele. Other new arrivals are Henry Ochuba, Okiemute Odah, Rapheal Anyagwa, Afolabi Wahab and Peter Suswan.
