Report: Monaco rejects £68million Mbappe bid

Monaco are reported to have rejected the first concrete offer for Kylian Mbappe.

The much-lauded France striker, 18, has won an army of admirers this season following his breakthrough into the Monaco side, and has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

However, French radio station RMC Sports claims the opening bid for the striker has actually come in from Manchester City, against whom Mbappe starred during their Champions League campaign.

The station claims City’s opening bid was for £68million, which would represent a world-record fee for a teenager.

With the transfer window not yet open until July 1, it was likely a very easy decision for Monaco to reject the alleged approach, with the player expected to fetch up to €110m if and when he does leave.

Reports in Spain have suggested Real Madrid are weighing up a move for Mbappe, while the player admits he will decide upon his future at the end of the season.

Gambo Mohammed joins Nigerian league champions Plateau United from Kano Pillars

Nigeria Professional Football League champions Plateau United have signed forward Gambo Mohammed on a two-year deal from Kano Pillars. Gambo, who is Kano Pillars all-time leading scorer, was rumoured to be on his way to Rivers United but has now joined the Jos club. The move ended his over a decade romance with Kano Pillars where he was a cult hero among the supporters. The 29-year old joined Kano Pillars from amateur outfit Buffalo FC in 2006 and won three NPFL titles with the club. He is the latest arrival at Plateau United following the acquisition of King Osanga, Charles Henlong, Amos Gyang and Tosin Omoyele. Other new arrivals are Henry Ochuba, Okiemute Odah, Rapheal Anyagwa, Afolabi Wahab and Peter Suswan. Video Assistant Referee(VAR) to be used in Spain

According to Marca, The Spanish FA have been given the green light to begin using VAR - Video Assistant Referee - and the technology could make its debut in the second leg of Atletico Madrid and Elche's Copa del Rey tie at the end of November. VAR is already in use in some European leagues, but there has been a mixed reaction to it, particularly in Germany   and Italy. As such, any initial use of it in Spain will be for testing and it will not be rolled out across the country straight away. Ten-man Real Madrid rescued a 3-3 draw at home to Las Palmas on Wednesday thanks to a late double from Cristiano Ronaldo. Goals from Tana, Jonathan Viera and Kevin-Prince Boateng overturned an early opener from Isco and looked set to give the visitors a shock three points, especially after Gareth Bale's red card early in the second half. Chelsea have won the Premier League title after defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at the Hawthorns. A late goal from substitute Michy Batshuayi gave the Blues three points, which mean they hold an unassailable 10-point advantage over Tottenham. Diego Maradona believes Lionel Messi should have been banned for longer after allegedly insulting a linesman, as he referred to the Barcelona star as a 'teddy bear'. Messi was initially handed a four-game suspension after the incident in a World Cup qualifier against Chile, but after sitting out just one match he has already been cleared to play again. Maradona believes Argentina's star man has received preferential treatment, although he admits it is good for the team that he can feature again.
