Marc Bombardo the guy to become the new Charles Puyol

By
Image
His mother, Laura, saw quickly that this boy had limitless energy. When he was four, Marc Bombardo went to play for the team in his twon, Sant Quirze del Valles. He started off as a goalkeeper but saw quickly that it was not his job and moved to midfield. Two years later Barcelona signed him and decided that he was a central defender. And from there he hasn't changed. Marc, 11, has always been a responsible boy. In Benjamin B his coach Jordi Perez told him 'Bomba, keep a clean sheet yeah!" to add to the responsibility on his shoulders. His team-mates and even their opponents know Marc as 'la Bomba'. Although he's not a boy that has a lot of idols, Marc doesn't hide his footballing reference point. None other than Carles Puyol, another player that like him, loved playing football.  In his short career so far, two coaches have influenced him especially. Albert Puig Alcaide, the first coach he had at Benjamin B, the first to give him notions of techniques a...

Mali looks like U23 side and not U17 says Iran U17 coach

By

Head Coach of the Iranian u17 side has accused Mali if age cheating at the ongoing U17 world cup in India. Iran were last Tuesday trashed 5-1 by Mali during the round of 16 match between both sides. Hadji Drame, Lassana N’Diaye, Fode Konate and Seme Camara were on the score sheet in the match dominated by Mali. "They sometimes look like they are an U-23 team and not in the same category as us (U-17),” said Al-Rubaye in the aftermath of the match.  “It’s quite visible in the way they play, the way they shoot and their abilities, like speed and physicality. “It's unfair sometimes because there is a big difference between African teams and others.” Yet Mali coach Jonas Komla shrugged off any insinuations that his side may be fielding overage players. ''In football, it is important to accept the results. In a tournament of this stature, there are clear rules and testing for every player is performed before the World Cup. We have passed all t...

Arsenal miss out on top 4 for the first time in 21 years despite 3-1 win over Everton

By

Needing slip-ups from either Liverpool or Manchester City on the final day of the season to have any chance of a top-four finish, Arsenal took an eighth-minute lead through Hector Bellerin. They did suffer a setback when Laurent Koscielny was sent off for a late lunge on Enner Valencia in the 14th minute, ruling him out of the FA Cup final, but doubled their lead through Alexis Sanchez in the 27th minute. Everton, who started with Ross Barkley on the bench, pulled a goal back through Romelu Lukaku's penalty after Rob Holding handled in the penalty area. But the Gunners, who lost Alexis Sanchez to injury in the 68th minute, secured victory thanks to Aaron Ramsey's injury-time strike. Arsenal's victory was in vain though in terms of Champions League qualification as Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to relegated Middlesbrough, while Manchester City hammered Watford 5-0. It means a first finish outside the top four for Arsenal during Arsene Wenger's tenure at...

The madridista coach expressed his confidence in the team: “We're ready. We've worked extremely hard to get here. We've won LaLiga as well. We're in great shape and now it's time to play this well deserved final. The most important thing is that all of us are ready to play this match”. “There's no pressure. At Madrid we live with pressure every day. I've experienced it as a player and as a coach. We all know what this club is about. They're saying we're favourites but football doesn't work like that. It's a final and anything can happen. It's 50-50, there are no favourites. We're going to try and do everything we can to win the Champions League once again”.                 Feelings “If you'd told me when I was a kid that I was going to experience all o...

Real Madrid  were put to the sword by Simone Zaza as Valencia ruined Cristiano Ronaldo’s 700th club football appearance winning 2-1 at Mestalla. Ronaldo scored with a towering header but the night belonged to the Italian international whose sensational first half strike will have West Ham supporters scratching their heads as to which Zaza it was they signed on loan last summer. This was the chance for Real Madrid to go four points clear of Barcelona in the first of two games in hand but it was Zaza voom after just five minutes when the West Ham flop, who failed to score in 11 games in England, got his second goal in two games for his new club.  And what a goal it was. Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves launched his team first real attack down the right and Munir El Haddadi crossed for Zaza who made light of having his back to goal and Raphael Varane for close company by spinning 180 degrees and firing into Keylor Navas’ top right-hand corner in one movement.
