Rival fans mock Manchester City supporters for their celebration after John Stones' goal

Manchester City 5-3 Monaco. One of the very greatest Champions League games of all time. Say what you like about some of the defending from both sides in the gripping encounter but some of the attacking play on display was utterly mesmerising.

Each and every fan in the stadium was witness to an absolute classic and will be able to tell future generations: 'I was there'. Those watching at home will also look back on the game in the same way we talk about the Newcastle/Liverpool classics.

But many of those were enjoying the match on television from a neutral standpoint were rather startled by the fact that City fans in the stands were decidedly unstartled. That's right - they found a way of mocking the Blues even on such a great night.

After John Stones dramatically put the home side in the lead to make it 4-3, the camera panned across the fans behind the goal, and they were hardly reacting in a matter you'd expect. Instead of riotous goonage and limbs everywhere, there was polite applause and pleasant smiles.

It certainly riled rival supporters enough to comment...

Rooney to miss Man Utd next two games

The Manchester United skipper suffered a muscle injury in United’s 3-0 win away to Leicester City, and is yet to recover since. He has missed three games after that, and looks all set to be on the sidelines for at least a week more. Jose Mourinho revealed in his pre-match press conference on Monday that Rooney will miss the Europa League tie against Saint-Étienne, and there is no guarantee that he will play on Sunday. England defender, Phil Jones, is also injured. The Portuguese said, as quoted by The Times : Rooney is injured and Phil Jones is injured. I don’t think they will recover [to face Saint-Étienne]. Mali looks like U23 side and not U17 says Iran U17 coach

Head Coach of the Iranian u17 side has accused Mali if age cheating at the ongoing U17 world cup in India. Iran were last Tuesday trashed 5-1 by Mali during the round of 16 match between both sides. Hadji Drame, Lassana N’Diaye, Fode Konate and Seme Camara were on the score sheet in the match dominated by Mali. "They sometimes look like they are an U-23 team and not in the same category as us (U-17),” said Al-Rubaye in the aftermath of the match.  “It’s quite visible in the way they play, the way they shoot and their abilities, like speed and physicality. “It's unfair sometimes because there is a big difference between African teams and others.” Yet Mali coach Jonas Komla shrugged off any insinuations that his side may be fielding overage players. Video Assistant Referee(VAR) to be used in Spain

According to Marca, The Spanish FA have been given the green light to begin using VAR - Video Assistant Referee - and the technology could make its debut in the second leg of Atletico Madrid and Elche's Copa del Rey tie at the end of November. VAR is already in use in some European leagues, but there has been a mixed reaction to it, particularly in Germany   and Italy. As such, any initial use of it in Spain will be for testing and it will not be rolled out across the country straight away. Cristiano Ronaldo rejects new Real madrid contract; Wants to move away from the club next summer

An 'angry' Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly rejected a new contract at Real Madrid and demanded a transfer away from the Spanish giants at the end of the season. Ronaldo, who has previously made it clear he didn't want to extend his current deal which runs out in 2021, was believed to have wanted to quit the club last summer. The Portuguese superstar opted to remain at the Bernabeu but reports in Spain on Tuesday have now suggested he doesn't want to play for the club beyond this term. And while the multiple heavyweight champion of the world provided the entertainment in the ring, the equally charismatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic stole the spotlight at ringside. Sergio Ramos claims he will be 'back in no time' after the Real Madrid defender broke his nose in their derby draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Zinedine Zidane's side had to play the whole of the second half without their captain as he was taken off at half-time after breaking his nose in a collision with Atletico's Lucas Hernandez. Following the goalless draw at the Wanda Metropolitano, Ramos took to Instagram to post some graphic and bloody photos of his nose, as well as showing his devotion to the club. The Spanish international wrote: 'I would bleed a thousand times for this badge and this shirt. Thanks for your support. I'll be back in no time #HalaMadrid'. It was another disappointing day at the office for both Madrid clubs on Saturday as the result has left them even further off the pace at the top of the La Liga table.
