Tammy Abraham ready to prove his Worth for England national team

Image
Tammy Abraham keen to prove his international credentials with England Tammy Abraham wants the opportunity to prove himself at international level after being handed his first senior England call-up for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil. Abraham was drafted into the squad alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Joe Gomez, with the trio all fledgling Premier League players who have been fast-tracked into the England set-up for the fixtures at Wembley. Abraham has scored five times in 14 appearances while on loan at Swansea from Chelsea this season and now hopes he can show enough to Gareth Southgate in training to hand him his England bow against either Germany on Friday or Brazil next Tuesday. The 20-year-old striker said on Sky Sports: “It would be a massive achievement for me and a big confidence boost as well, it would show that I’m going in the right direction. If I do get my opportunity I’d like to grab it as much as I can. “I feel like I’m ready but it won’t be e...

It will be "suicidal", if we pack the bus against Al Ahly in CAF champions league final

Image
Wydad Casablanca coach Hussein Amotta said it would be "suicidal" to try and defend the 1-1 CAF Champions League final first-leg draw when they meet Al Ahly again Saturday.  A goalless second leg at the Stade Mohammed V would give the Moroccans victory over the Egyptians on the away-goal rule in the premier African club competition title decider. But Amotta believes "parking the bus" is not an option as Wydad seek to win the competition for the second time after their 1992 triumph over Al Hilal of Sudan. "Ahly boast one of the best attacks in Africa so it would be suicidal to sit back and defend against them, hoping to win on away goals," the 48-year-old former midfielder said. "We must attack because there are flaws in the Ahly defence, while not giving our opponents space to catch us on the counter. "Wydad achieved a great result in Egypt by holding Ahly, one of the most experienced clubs in the continent. "But this final ...

Al Ahly and Wydad settle for a 1-1 draw in the first leg of CAF Champions league final

Image
Al Ahly of Egypt were unable to build on a great start and had to settle for a 1-1 first-leg draw with Wydad Casablanca of Morocco Saturday in the CAF Champions League final. Moamen Zakaria scored after just three minutes for the record eight-time African champions at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Mediterranean city Alexandria. But leading Wydad scorer Achraf Bencharki levelled on 16 minutes and dominant Ahly were unable to regain the lead before a crowd restricted to 50,000 for safety reasons.  Wydad host the return match next Saturday and are favoured to pocket the record $2.5 million (2.1 million euros) first prize given their home form in Africa this season. The Moroccan outfit won all six home matches en route to the final, including a 1-0 last-eight victory over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa. Rohr:Vincent Enyeama may return to the super Eagles team.

Image
Lille OSC coach Marcelo Bielsa has decided to make a u-turn and recall Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama back to the first team. The former Super Eagles skipper has been handed a lifeline by Bielsa following his return from a six month injury lay-off. Enyeama and 11 others were deemed surplus to requirements by Bielsa upon his appointment as coach of the French giants last summer, paving the way for them to leave the club. However, the 35-year old net minder couldn’t make a move as he was recuperating from the meniscus surgery he sustained towards the end of the previous campaign. Having fully recovered, the goalkeeper posted a video of himself back in training with the team for the first time in six months. Meanwhile the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has confirmed he has had positive talks on a return as the goalkeeper left the national team in controversial circumstances in 2016 ‎following a row with former coach Sunday Oliseh
