Legendary Andrea Pirlo retires from football

Yankee Stadium was the final stage for Andrea Pirlo. Indisputably one of the greatest ever and most well-loved players in the world, he finished his career as a leader by example in MLS where had played since joining New York City FC in 2015.
It ended with elimination as New York beat Columbus Crew 2-0 but it wasn’t enough to overturn the 4-1 deficit from the first leg.
With the match running down, New York Coach Patrick Vieira brought Pirlo on in the 90th minute to a standing ovation.  There was applause and chanting in the Big Apple from the fans who always applauded him whenever he went to take a corner as the club now turns a corner following the departure of one of its greatest stars.
Pirlo won everything, representing the biggest clubs in Italian football. With Milan, he established himself on the international stage and reached the greatest heights before reinventing himself at Juventus for a new successful spell. With Italy, he made history lifting the World Cup in 2006 and overall me made 116 appearances scoring 13 times.
His was a quiet revolution. The way in which he interpreted the game remains unique and unrepeatable.

Cristiano Ronaldo rejects new Real madrid contract; Wants to move away from the club next summer

An 'angry' Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly rejected a new contract at Real Madrid and demanded a transfer away from the Spanish giants at the end of the season. Ronaldo, who has previously made it clear he didn't want to extend his current deal which runs out in 2021, was believed to have wanted to quit the club last summer. The Portuguese superstar opted to remain at the Bernabeu but reports in Spain on Tuesday have now suggested he doesn't want to play for the club beyond this term. Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester City climbed out of the relegation zone. Leicester striker Vardy struck in each half as the fallen champions finally decided to turn up with a much-needed performance just four days after Claudio Ranieri had been sacked. Danny Drinkwater also scored a spectacular first half effort as Leicester overwhelmed Liverpool as the King Power Stadium came alive again. Leicester fans chanted Ranieri’s name, held banners and even organised a march through the city centre while the players forgot all about him to produce a victory reminiscent of last season’s title success. Xabi Alonso played his last game in Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over Freiburg, a game in which he provided an assist to Roben for Bayern's first goal. Xabi Alonso got a standing ovation from Bayern Munich's fans when he was replaced by Frank Ribery in 82 minutes of the game. What a legend he is, and will be missed by football lovers for his ability to deliver long  range passes accurately. Real Madrid are closing in on the signature of striker Vinicius Jr and the 16-year-old even took a medical examination for the club on Monday. The tests were planned by Vinicius' current side Flamengo, although the results were also sent on to Los Blancos as per their request. Globoesporte say that the player went to Samaritano Hospital in Barra da Tijuca, near Rio de Janeiro, for the medical, with the LaLiga giants reported by MARCA to be now on the verge of completing a deal.
