Zlatan Ibrahimovic: if Anthony Joshua want to see some 'Bruce Lee skills' I will happily agree

By

Anthony Joshua extended his undefeated knockout streak to 20 fights last night.

And while the multiple heavyweight champion of the world provided the entertainment in the ring, the equally charismatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic stole the spotlight at ringside.

The Man United forward was present in Cardiff as Joshua defeated Carlos Takam in the tenth round and provided a classic one-liner in the aftermath of the fight.

When asked if he fancied stepping into the ring with Joshua, Zlatan joked that he only wanted to learn from the boxer but if Joshua wanted to see some ‘Bruce Lee skills’ then the enigmatic Swede would happily oblige.

Video Assistant Referee(VAR) to be used in Spain

By
Image
According to Marca, The Spanish FA have been given the green light to begin using VAR - Video Assistant Referee - and the technology could make its debut in the second leg of Atletico Madrid and Elche's Copa del Rey tie at the end of November. VAR is already in use in some European leagues, but there has been a mixed reaction to it, particularly in Germany   and Italy. As such, any initial use of it in Spain will be for testing and it will not be rolled out across the country straight away. This, though, is a start and a big step, one which seemed unlikely to come to fruition until Angel Maria Villar had to step aside as Spanish FA president. click here for more

Chelsea ready £71 million for top Spanish midfielder

By
Image
Chelsea are ready to cough up £71m to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain Spanish outlet  Don Balon , as quoted by the  Daily Star , reporting that the defending Premier League champions want to sign the 22-year-old midfielder to bolster their options in the January transfer window. According to the same report, Chelsea boss Conte is a big admirer of the Spain international and the Italian coach wants the attacking midfielder in the next transfer window. However, the Blues could find it difficult to lure Niguez to Stamford Bridge after the 22-year-old signed a new four-year deal with Atletico in the summer. Indeed,  los Rojiblancos  wisely included an eye-watering £134m contract release clause to warn off potential suitors in the promising Atletico Madrid talent. Another stumbling block to any potential deal is Diego Simeone’s reluctance to sell the rising Spanish star, acco...

Ibrahimovic: Since I left nobody except much from Sweden

By
Image
The 36-year-old had already retired from international duty before sustaining a serious knee injury, but spent much of his career in Italy with Juventus, Milan and Inter, so is the perfect person to discuss the World Cup play-off. “These are going to be two great games, difficult for both sides,” Ibra told Sky Sport Italia. “The teams will do everything to get through, so these are basically like cup finals. The play-offs are completely different to a group stage game.” The first leg is in Stockholm on Friday evening, with the decider in Milan next Monday. “Sweden are playing without pressure, because since I left, nobody expects much of them now, from the media to the fans. When I play, the level is raised, so it is lowered in my absence. “Having said that, this squad remains a good collective, just with less responsibility on their shoulders. The players are not very experienced, but the project is ambitious.” Would Ibrahimovic play for Sweden if they qualify for the ...

By

Gomes has endured a difficult first season at Barcelona since signing from Valencia in the summer. But despite his erratic displays, manager Luis Enrique continues to persist with him. And Spanish outlet DiarioGol claim the Argentina international has demanded Gomes be dropped with immediate effect. Messi and fellow forwards Neymar and Luis Suarez are said to be appalled at Enrique's faith in Gomes. And Rakitic is now being Linked with a move to Real Madrid having grown tired of life out in the cold.

Chelsea officially signs Germany and Roma defender Antonio Rudiger

By
Image
Chelsea finally made Antonio Rudiger's move to the club official Sunday as the former AS Roma defender signed a five-year contract with the Blues. The club announced the news via its official website. In a statement, Rudiger expressed his joy at joining the Premier League champions: "It's a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this. "I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates, and I'm very proud to officially become a Chelsea player." The 24-year-old joined Roma from VfB Stuttgart in 2015, with his loan move made permanent last summer. He enjoyed a fine 2016-17 campaign and played a key role in Germany's run to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Blessed with remarkable athleticism and pace for a defender, he greatly improved his vision in Italy and became a complete centre-back. He's also comfortable playing on the left or right side of a three-man defence, which made him a perfect tar...

Man Utd beats St Etienne to progress in Europa League

By
Manchester United secured Europa League progress at a cost, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan limping off shortly after opening the scoring against St Etienne to put his EFL Cup final hopes in jeopardy. Jose Mourinho named a surprisingly-strong line-up considering they arrived in France boasting a 3-0 lead for the last-32 return leg – a bold decision that backfired somewhat. In-form Mkhitaryan limped off after 25 minutes in St Etienne holding the back of his right leg, having already set United on course for a 1-0 second-leg win on a night when Eric Bailly was sent off for quick-fire bookings.

TOTTENHAM DEALT A BLOW IN TITLE CHASE

By
Image
And it was. A 1-0 win, same as last year; that dealt a savage blow to Tottenham's title ambitions, same as last year. The change was the location. All year, West Ham fans have complained that their new home isn't like Upton Park. Well, this time it was. A night game, a boisterous atmosphere, and a result that proved West Ham can still be inspired in these unfamiliar surrounds. They were the better team over 90 minutes. In fact, they could have won by more, had Jonathan Calleri and Ashley Fletcher taken late chances. Tottenham's travellers admitted as much by scurrying into the night. The pursuit has proved too much for them, again. All eyes were on leaders Chelsea but, in reality, it is the chasing team that cannot afford even one misstep. To be fair, the warning sign was there at Selhurst Park two weeks ago. Tottenham were ordinary that night but were saved by a great goal from Christian Eriksen. That wasn't going to happen again. They couldn't be rescued by a...

Juventus in UCL final after 4-1 aggregate win over Monaco

By
Image
Juventus, four goals up on aggregate and already thinking about their date with destiny on June 3, switched off for one moment and Kylian Mbappe nipped in to score what was nothing other than a consolation but, to Allegri, it appeared as though the world had ended. In a spell between the 22nd and 44th minute, Juventus had eight clear chances to score and had it not been for an inspired performance from Danijel Subasic in Monaco’s goal, what turned out to be a drubbing could have become a rout. Gonzalo Higuain had a shot cleared off the line; Mandzukic was thwarted, as was Claudio Marchisio; Paulo Dybala, the architect of the victory over Barcelona in the quarter finals, could scarcely believe he fluffed his lines when sent clean through. Ultimately, though, the misses never mattered. Mandzukic killed off any last lingering hopes Monaco were clinging to when, at the second attempt, he made sure a magnificent cross from Dani Alves got the finish it deserved, stabbing his shot int...
