How Inter Milan stopped Ivan Perisic from joining Manchester united

inter's accounts reveal how they kept hold of Ivan Perisic, despite interest from Manchester United.

The Nerazzurri had to raise €35m by August this year to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play, or be sanctioned by European football’s governing body.

As a result, the Red Devils made an offer of €35m for the winger, well below the €55m asking price, reasoning that the Beneamata would cave.

However, the club managed to keep hold of Perisic by selling other players, with the shareholders’ meeting today revealing they brought in €44m.

Gianluca Carpari went to Sampdoria for €15m, generating a profit of €9.3m, while Juan Jesus brought in €6.8m when his move to Roma was made permanent.

Fabio Guelfi’s €6m move to Atalanta brought in €4.8m, with the sales of Cristiano Biraghi and Diego Laxalt generating a further €9m for the club.

Add the sales of Ever Banega, Andrew Gravillon, Federico Dimarco, Senna Miangue, and Daniel Bessa and the total far exceeds the €35m Inter needed.

These accounts don’t include purchases or sales for August, so the signings of Dalbet, Borja Valero, Milan Skriniar and Matias Vecino aren’t included.

Alonso optimistic Chelsea will beat Roma after weekend disappointing loss to Crystal Palace

Alonso said Roma is a very strong team and Chelsea will need to give 100 per cent in order to beat them. According to the defender,  after the disappointing  loss at Palace, the only way forward is to work hard and win our next game. He believes tomorrow provides them with another chance to put in a good performance, as they did in Madrid. Dutch FA to speak to Vitesse about racist chanting

The Dutch football association KNVB is to look into reports that Vitesse fans made monkey noises directed at Ajax keeper Andre Onana during their match last weekend. The investigation followed a video on YouTube in which the sounds can be heard clearly behind the Ajax goal, where hardened Vitesse fans were sitting. The part of the video with the noise has now been removed but the KNVB has the original recording, website Nu.nl said. ‘Racism has no place in the stadium and must be tackled,’ the KNVB said on Twitter on Tuesday. ‘The KNVB has approached Vitesse to take steps.’ Nu.nl said the KNVB will decide on the basis of the clubs and the referees reports whether to start a formal investigation. Head Coach of the Iranian u17 side has accused Mali if age cheating at the ongoing U17 world cup in India. Iran were last Tuesday trashed 5-1 by Mali during the round of 16 match between both sides. Dani Alves terminated his contract with juventus last month, and it was reported last week he was close to joining Man City to reunite with formal manager Pep Guardiola . Goal claimed that the three time Champions League winning defender was to sign a two-year deal at the Etihad Stadium worth £8.6 million, equating to roughly £85,000-per-week. However Alves has had a change of heart and instead has signed for Paris Saint-Germain, where he is expected to earn more than double what City were offering him.
